Check with the commanding
officer, protocol office or
chaplain's office at your military installation for the proper
protocol. Each base differs as does each branch.
There are many military Reception venues
in San Diego that are available to Military personal and their family
and friends. Military wedding requirements are different depending on
rank and branch. Many military couples opt to get married in their own
church and have receptions in a hotel or other venues other than a military
base.
Military wedding are not that different than civilian weddings. One tradition
at the reception is that Military guests are escorted to their seats in
order of rank. Music selection will include regimental and the theme service
branch song of the Bride and/or Groom.
Bridal couples will find a military wedding detail to incorporate into
their Military wedding decorations, such as American flags on the cocktail
napkins, chocolate flag favors, customize dog tags as placecard, and add
the colors of the unit(s). Choice flower colors may be red, white and
blue!
The highlight of a military wedding reception is when it's time to cut
the cake. The groom will present the saber or sword, to the bride, one
belonging to the groom if he owns one. The bride will cut a slice of the
wedding cake as the groom rest his right hand over hers.
